Accountex London 2025: What we learned, shared and loved

June 2, 2025

Accountex London just wrapped up for another year, and what a show it was.

With over 16,000 attendees and 180+ sessions across 12 theatres, this year’s event confirmed what we already knew: the accounting profession is evolving fast, and firms are rising to the challenge with fresh thinking, smarter tech, and renewed ambition.

We were proud to exhibit as part of The Access Group for a second year, alongside Unleashed , Lightyear , Tradify  and Paycircle . Over two packed days, the Fathom team; Darren Glanville, Jessica Miller, Shivani Chheda, Emily Eden and Dan Murphy-Moore, shared demos, explored new features, and chatted to hundreds of advisors and firm leaders about the changing demands of clients and the future of reporting.

What we heard across the floor

MTD for Income Tax is firmly back in focus

The buzz around Making Tax Digital for Income Tax was louder than ever. With changes on the horizon, many sessions explored how firms are preparing for implementation and why simplifying compliance is becoming essential to freeing up time for higher-value work. It is a reminder that clear reporting and automation are not just nice to have, they are key to future-proofing the practice.

The advisor’s role is expanding

We noticed a real shift in tone this year. It is not just about accountants as number-crunchers, it is about their role as navigators. From sessions on climate accountability to advisory-led growth, there was a growing sense that clients are turning to their advisors for clarity in uncertain times. The question is not whether firms should offer advisory services, but how they can scale them with confidence.

Capacity is stretched, and firms are feeling it

The pressure on teams, especially during busy periods, was a recurring theme. With advisory services rising in demand, many firms are rethinking how they structure their teams and workflows. Tools that automate, streamline, and support smart delegation are becoming critical for long-term sustainability.

Firms want better workflows, not more tools

Tech stacks are growing, but so is tech fatigue. The message from many attendees was clear: integration matters, but so does simplicity. Accountants are looking for connected systems that reduce admin, speed up insights, and give them more time to focus on the work that counts.

Standing room only at Fathom’s masterclass panel

On Day One, we hosted a masterclass panel “How to build teams that deliver exceptional advisory services”. Hosted by Senior Account Manager at Fathom, Shivani Chheda. She was joined by an expert panel:

From career development to client conversations, the panel unpacked how firms can train, trust and empower teams to deliver advisory services at scale. It was one of the liveliest sessions of the day and we will be sharing key takeaways soon.

Connecting with customers, partners and peers

Beyond the sessions, one of the best parts of Accountex was reconnecting with the Fathom community. From long-time customers to first-time visitors, we had brilliant conversations about everything from scenario planning to forecasting confidence and how firms are using Fathom to deliver clarity, faster.

If you dropped by the stand, thank you. It was a real highlight for our team to hear how Fathom fits into your workflows and your goals.

What’s next?

As firms rethink their strategies and gear up for a more complex future, we are excited to be building tools that support them. Whether it is engaging clients more effectively, reporting with impact, or scaling advisory without burnout.
